I’m looking at one biiig big beaded string. / Some beads are twinkling, some are talking. / < ?!! > / , My eye becomes another bead!

Using vision and the way we witness astronomical phenomena as a starting point, Weesapen connects the celestial and corporeal. He whimsically conceives of light as a metaphorical string for stars, planets, and the eyes of observers, which he imagines as the “the beads of the universe”. In fields of vibrant blue and orange, he depicts the energetic movements of astral threads, orbs, and ripples. Auric pulses and luminous currents reverberate across the paintings, simultaneously evoking a sense of cosmic resonance and child-like fantasy.

In these pieces, Weesapen establishes a new type of futurism, producing his own fables of space and time. Dancing between the playful and transcendent, he employs the sci-fi aesthetics of digital illumination yet reaches back to the primordial cosmic rays of deep time. Weesapen’s light becomes a channel for us to travel beyond the confines of terrestrial sight and place. These works reimagine connection and coexistence, confronting a sense of vastness and the ways we are sublimely interconnected.
